Tore - career over? Out for the season
http://readwestham.com/2016/12/12/gokhan-tores-besiktas-return-put-doubt/

West Ham are hoping to cancel Gokhan Tore’s season-long loan deal from Besiktas in January to free up space in the squad – but that now looks increasingly more unlikely.

After making eight dismal appearances for the Hammers between August and October, Tore hasn’t featured for the club since his 45 minute cameo against Middlesbrough on October 1st.

This is largely down to a thigh injury suffered in training which has kept him out of every matchday squad since that game.

Tore was expected to be back fit within the next six weeks and ready to be sent packing back to Turkey, but a knee injury appears to have derailed that.

According to HaberTurkSpor, the former Chelsea winger is dealing with some serious cartilage damage in his knee which could be career-threatening if the situation deteriorates.

This has forced Besiktas to put any move to bring Tore back in January on hold until they determine the extent of his injury.

It would appear West Ham could be stuck with Tore until the end of the season.

Doctor comfirms West Ham player ruled out for the season, surgery in Germany

There will be no January return to Besiktas for West Ham United winger Gokhan Tore according to Fanatik. The 24-year old has been ruled out for the season following surgery on his knee in Germany last week.

There were previously claims in the Turkish press that Besiktas are interested in taking Tore back from West Ham early, but these talks have ground to halt after the winger’s season-ending injury.

Slaven Bilic worked well with Tore at Besiktas and there was hope that could continue at West Ham, but it simply hasn’t worked out.

We reported earlier this week that Tore’s injury might be worse than expected, even a threat to his career, but Tore’s personal doctor Ertuğrul Karanlık has confirmed there’s nothing to fear.

”Gokhan will be fine to play again… We decided not to take any risks. I’m sure he’ll be back stronger. This is a good choice for him (to undergo surgery). He’ll have his rehab until the end of the season and after that we’ll see a stronger Tore.”

Fanatik also reveal West Ham are not going to activate the clause in Tore’s contract, which is thought to be around €10 million. Tore is now set to carry out his rehabilitation at West Ham and return to Besiktas after the end of the season.

Tore will be unable to prove himself in England, and that will come as a big disappointment for the Turkish international. Previously at Chelsea, Tore was keen to sign for West Ham and have another go at English football.

Hit with the curse of West Ham’s last summer transfer window, the winger has been unable to do that.

Feel very sorry for him. Apparently he's a nice fella - fairly quiet but nice as pie to staff and fellow players. Model pro in training.

Imagine failing at Chelsea, flourishing at Turkey and then having your big return ruined to the UK hit by a major injury and inability to adapt to the rigours of the PL.

He's probably destined now to carve out his career in the footballing backwaters of China, playing in smog infested stadiums and living off Peking duck, albeit for a wedge which most can only dream about.

It's a pretty unfulfilling footballing career.

OK fair enough we have to cover his wages, but why is he still going to be here?? He'l never play for us again!

What are we going to get some value by using him as a fucking tea lady?

Besiktas should want him back to make sure he is treated well, he's their "asset" not ours. What motivation do we have to give him the best treatment now?

Fucking bizarre

Agree with Crassus...

Suspect he had a lingering/old knee injury when he arrived...cos he was never the tricky speedy winger of his Turkish reputation...

Did they do a proper medical before signing the loan deal...???

Shame he didn't really get a chance to settle down and show us his best form

The new age spastic fan of course will be delighted that he's gone, especially the dick sitting a few rows from me that booed him in the warm up about 2 months ago

Sorry, how have they siphoned all this money out?

Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
So how would you feel if we had bought Tore instead of just a loan?

Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
The positives to be taken out of this news is that our owners have paid a loan fee and will be paying his wages till the end of the season, all for NOTHING. They've siphoned more than enough out of this club over the last few years and this will hit them where it hurts - in their pocket.

I know I'm cutting my nose off to spite my face, but I'm becoming full of spite for what they have done, are doing and will continue doing to the club I love.

Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
Why is ther apparent shock that we pay his wages?

We agreed to take the bloke for a fixed period and pay him for that term

So the bloke breaks down - and?

Of course we would pay his wages, just as any of our outbound loanees would be paid

Fail to see why the parent club would pick up the tab for an injury sustained whilst with us

Of course, the bigger question is what and when that injury was sustained, never looked remotely fit and it would not shock to establish that he was knackered when he arrived and snapped totally when here

I can't see Besiktas suddenly being overcome with good will and insisting they pay his wages until the end of the season.

My line would be "a contract is a contract, so fuck off" or words to that effect. Is a polite version necessary?

Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
Kylay- TBH I'm not sure either! I guess maybe it varies from case to case?

I'd have assumed we would be paying him more than he was on as it's a 'step up' loan, rather than when a player does a 'step down' loan where his wages don.t decrease.

I am probably talking cobblers...

Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
As far as I'm aware loans are like any deal - what's the best you can get.

If a player is at someone like Arsenal and have a player on say £40k pw and they want him to go to a Championship club for experience they may well agree to pay half his wages. If he gets injured while playing for the new club that depends on the deal.

I would think that Arsenal lending Jenkinson to WH for example, would mean us paying all the wages agreed in the loan contract even if he gets injured as all clubs are subjected to Financial Fair Play and taking a few players back could push the lending club's wages over the FFP limit.

As I say though had we bought Tore for £10m on a 5 year contract we'd be paying his wages for the contract even if he never kicked another ball. This happened with Kieran Dyer and Dean Ashton of course. Insurance would be very expensive I would think and I have a feeling that WH didn't have cover. I think our claim was against the FA's policy as he was injured on England duty...

The way he has played I thought he was out for the season from the very off?

Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
I'm fairly certain we paid Jenkinson's wages for the duration of his loan despite returning to Arsenal for treatment.

Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
do loans work like that? meaning a player re-negotiates wages with the renting team and returns to his original wages after the loan. serious question.

Willtell 5:00 Thu Dec 15
Re: Tore - career over? Out for the season
Loans aren't the problem. It's better to take players like Tore on loan because whatever the annual loan fee it will be less than buying the player on a 5 year contract and having to pay that up...

And just because players go back to their clubs doesn't mean they don't have to keep on paying for them for the loan period.
